This will continue while the Doh-bama administration pushes us to 90% of the GDP is paying for his policies.
LAST YEAR, he could blame that bastard Bush (well that hasn't stopped). But since LAST YEAR, this is ALL on his head.
"Hey we HAVE to bail out the auto companies or they'll go Bankrupt" - http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSLA64177720090710
http://in.reuters.com/article/businessNews/idINIndia-40228720090610
"Hey we have to pump money into jobs, so we can stop unemployment around 8%" - http://www.bls.gov/Lau/ We all know it hit 10% in most places. As of this writing many are within 0.5% or higher than the 8%

Nothing wrong with these Liberals. They are Godless creatures who believe they are gods themselves (there's a song about that by The Godz). This is why we have this Global Warming lie, ummm correction they changed to Global Climate Change . . . lie. They stand there and THINK they can do things to affect Mother Earth. Amazing. They are truly clueless.
A turn-around will only happen if the citizens of the world rebuild their infrastructure. The government ALWAYS follows. It CANNOT lead. The smartest people are NOT in the government. It USED to be that way, but no more. Only puppet, talk-heads, are in the government looking out for their own interests, which are to be re-elected, not to get things done.

Comment on The Sexist, Rotten Super Bowl Advertisements by Major Tom

I liked the Betty White ad.
Quit whining. Only "some" of the people who play sports are thugs. But let's digress a bit and put it into perspective. Some portion of players come from the hood. They grew up with little or no money. They could never buy the things they wanted. Now they have $80M thrown at them. They're able to spend $10 large on dinner and drinks. They have an entourage of "yes men" to pump their ego. They are just human and have succumbed to the weakness of the human condition. Yes they are responsible for their actions, but I believe Henry Blackaby said this, or maybe it was Max Lucado paraphrased "The problem with the darkness is not that is dark. THAT is its nature. The problem is with the light, that does not illuminate the darkness." So applying it, the players who are balanced, and responsible are the ONLY ones who can help the wayward players. No one else can. If the balanced players do not help, then the condition will continue.
On Ads.
Each generation is more permissive than the previous. See my previous statement about the dark.
This is a core problem. Parents don't want to parent. Now video games proliferate and kids are in front of the games 8 hrs a day.
Citizens are not voting in the elections. They only complain.
Residents are not attending the town meetings and having their voices heard.
Parents are not volunteering at their schools, little league, boy/girl scouts, pick up trash on the road, help their elderly neighbors, help the family down the street who just lost their primary income. They don't know their next door neighbors.
The question is answered everyday, by everyday people, with their everyday actions.

Comment on Can Drew Carey, or Anyone, Save Cleveland? by Major Tom

NO.

The voters of Cleveland WANT waste, scandal, and stupidity. They cannot think past "What are they giving me". Where is JFK when you need him "Ask not what your city can do for you, ask what you can do for your city."
I saw build up the surrounding suburbs, or next nearest cities. They will be MORE compliant with new ideas. Also, if you want to "rebuild" cleveland, then their stupid representatives need to accept Apple, Inc. with open arms, NOT blow them off without speaking to them. Idiots.
I think it was San Diego, CA that has undergone significant revitalization (links below). You know how they did it? WITH A PLAN.
Cleveland politicians only want kickbacks and want to fight amongst themselves. There IS NO PLAN. The city council needs to be voted out en toto. If Drew Carey wants to help, he needs to invest in startups and companies who will work towards attracting talent into the area (www.joroto.com and others come to mind. search cleveland and invest maybe). Drew needs to bypass the government and get jobs going here at a faster clip than the rest of the country. Good Press will follow, and then other "good things" will happen. Drew needs to draw upon his associates who have money and invest here. Since the Rust Belt began, investment has been sent elsewhere. The disconnect is between the money and the entrepreneurs. Small business hires more people, than large business does.

There is no way to force companies to manufacture here in the U.S. Even the best products, such as the iPod, are made overseas. That is a shame that foreign workers reap most of the benefits of American innovation.

Given the chance, I would manufacture my goods here, even taking a smaller profit than I otherwise would. But that sense of country, and what I think is a dire situation, is not widespread.

Want it or not, US salaries will drop anyway. It is a natural process: US competes not only against Europe and Japan, but also against India and China. As a future prospect: cheap labor in Africa (if they settle the ordeal) and South/Latin America. The world is getting richer and will compete for resources and talents. How are you going to fix this trend?

are you serious? look at what a ponzi scheme is. you can water board this man and his accomplisses for eternity and never find out where the money is. basically he robbed peter to pay paul his so called dividend. So to start with all that money is gone, no one will ever find it! So no matter what you do to him, his family or business partners it will do no good what so ever. the thing that really gets me is that this guy pulled off the single biggest robbery I have ever heard of, and that was in the tune of $65 billion! So go ahead and water board any one you want it will not resolve a single thing, and on top of that this is the U.S.A., and 2009, you can find a better way to get info out of the guy! and one last thing to say, madoff's whole family had nothing to do with him once all the crap went down. so go ahead and try to get blood from a turnip, they didn't know it was happening and then as soon as they found out, they all got out!

Bah! Humbug!
McCain threw the fight.

The man has a very weak moral compass (which is why he likes to refer to himself as a "maverick"). He goes the way the wind blows and he attributes this to his "maverick" style. KaKa to that! (There may be children reading this). He is a loose cannon and there's no telling which way he'll be pointing when the cannon goes off.

If he spotted how far left Obama is, he would have fought a more strenuous fight. He didn't spot it because he really doesn't know the difference. He looked on Obama as a fellow politician with no more insight into him than that.

I voted for him holding my nose and praying.
Something tells me that even if he had won, the results may have been nearly the same.

There! I said it and I'm glad!

Is it Asylum because he is Gay? because he is Brazilian? or because he Married in MA (for love of course)?
1) Gay people are not persecuted in America. Made fun of? yes of course. We make fun of everyone. Gay people don't have a sense of humor.
2) Brazilian? Umm there is no persecution in Brazil for anything except being a tourist in Rio. So no joy there.
3) Because he married in order to stay in the country? Ummm this is illegal. So again this admitted baby killer Senator wants to break U.S. law.

Let's send them both home to Brazil.

Hello again JBM.
I'm back from the diamond field. I have to say that article (not your blog) was rubbish. "OH PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME". Pitiful.
"I can't buy a nice big fat diamond for my girlfriend/fiancee". A sheer idiot. Next he'll be whining he can't afford a house in the Hamptons. Or that "nice" car. Not that piece of crap Ford Fiesta. He wants a Porsche. No he DESERVES a Porsche because he WENT to college.
Oh and about the dufus who signed YET ANOTHER loan WITHOUT reading it and his loan MAGICALLY unbeknownst to him ballooned to $100,000 ! ! ! That guy is clinically a moron bordering on Idiot status. He needs to go back to college, this time not sleep through the FINANCE class.
Ok Let's reinforce a couple of your points:
1) EYES WIDE OPEN - Just like the mortgage idiots who bought a $300,000 house for $500,000. These "kids" signed the student loan KNOWING full-well how much the LOW INTEREST was and the payback period. They ALSO KNEW how much they would make when they exited college. Idiots cannot be saved from themselves. If they wouldn't have signed these loans, then they would have signed the mortgage notes and been whining for the forgiveness of those loans.
2) Education will overprice itself as long as people go. If people shop around for best price versus education they'll see the Ivy league schools turn out trash (like Obama) who cannot speak without a teleprompter, only think of themselves, and can run a community organization and "lose" off the books $150 Million and not even care. So you local city college is JUST FINE to get your degree. Stay at home, watch your money and get your degree. Dennis Prager (sp??) researched this and it was found that it DIDN'T MATTER which college you went to.
3) The Facebook group only shows that people want to become debt free. This is a great thing. However they haven't learned to pay off debt and (can I say the "S" word?) SSSSacrifice to pay off their bills. You are correct. Work two jobs and get those bills paid down/off. Poor poor humans youth. An abundance of energy is so wasted on our youts.
4) I will end it with this point. The reason college is SO important now is because the idiot liberals have GUTTED the American primary education system. No accountability for public schools has produced a bunch of mush heads who cannot think. We send them to college and now are finding that a 4 year college degree is STILL not enough. So these days those kids need Master's degrees.

Hello again JBM.
I’m back from the diamond field. I have to say that article (not your blog) was rubbish. “OH PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME”. Pitiful.
“I can’t buy a nice big fat diamond for my girlfriend/fiancee”. A sheer idiot. Next he’ll be whining he can’t afford a house in the Hamptons. Or that “nice” car.
Ok Let’s reinforce a couple of your points:
1) EYES WIDE OPEN – Just like the mortgage idiots who bought a $300,000 house for $500,000. These “kids” signed the student loan KNOWING full-well how much the LOW INTEREST was and the payback period. They ALSO KNEW how much they would make when they exited college. Idiots cannot be saved from themselves. If they wouldn’t have signed these loans, then they would have signed the mortgage notes and been whining for the forgiveness of those loans.
2) Education will overprice itself as long as people go. If people shop around for best price versus education they’ll see the Ivy league schools turn out trash (like Obama) who cannot speak without a teleprompter, only think of themselves, and can run a community organization and “lose” off the books $150 Million and not even care. So you local city college is JUST FINE to get your degree. Stay at home, watch your money and get your degree. Dennis Prager (sp??) researched this and it was found that it DIDN’T MATTER which college you went to.
3) The Facebook group only shows that people want to become debt free. This is a great thing. However they haven’t learned to pay off debt and (can I say the “S” word?) SSSSacrifice to pay off their bills. You are correct. Work two jobs and get those bills paid down/off. Poor poor humans youth. An abundance of energy is so wasted on our youts.

Major Tom, Googling "India" and "special effects" will quickly show you that special effects have already been outsourced handily to India. Holleywood is laying off, but meanwhile, paying pennies to their new Indian counterparts.

The last place I searched (should be the first) was in Google, using the keywords "drain services". Anyway, it was worth the search because I really like this website and your post regarding ? Where? | The State Of Affairs looks very interesting for me. Definitely Stumbled!

I presume you are writing about the charitable tax deductions the politicians take. I never give credence to the published tax return data because there are plenty of people who do not itemize their charitable deductions on their tax form. One reason may be because they know it is no one's business how much money they give to charity or to which charity they give. Is it possible Senator Biden is purely good in that respect?

It takes 10 to 15 years to bring a power plant online. That's IF you remove some regulations and clear the way of all those lawsuits about killing the snail habitat.
Anyway, yeah I agree with what you said. State small and use that DemoRatic technique of Incrementalism. Within four years a REAL president could cut the budget. If the Congress doesn't go along with it, then the government shuts down and we have REAL progress. So either way, the peons . . . ummm citizens will win.
They just released the charitable giving of these passport toting DemoRats. I give more than them each year. I think it would take five years of their "giving" (Biden gave a whole $120 in one year) to catch up with a month's worth of my giving.
DemoRats are Liars and cheats. That's a fact. They lie about how concerned they are for poor people and down and out people. They don't give any of their own money, but they will give ALL of yours away.
Keep blogging.

Did I insult the girls? OH MY NO!
How do we know that Amy was Carter's daughter. Maybe it was his brother's and because of Billy Bob's alcoholism, couldn't take care of her and they "adopted" her secretly?
Or maybe Chelsea was a LOVE child like Hill said one time. Well maybe she meant "Not Bill's". I dunno, but no worse than saying Trig is not Sarah's.
Don't preach to me.

WAH WAH WAAAAAHHH
Ok. Seriously, send them a cease and desist order.
As far as Google, what they probably did was pay an SEO firm to "place" their sites in all the right blogs as well as all the right search engines. Google's search is automated and not really due to payoffs. However the fact that they have a hundred and fifty ads everywhere might "help" the search engine in its rankings.

Research, research, research:
From the company's site, the media company:
"As part of the Reliance - ADA Group, Reliance Entertainment is spearheading the Group’s foray into the media and entertainment space. Reliance Entertainment’s core focus is to build significant presence for Reliance in the Entertainment eco-system: across content and distribution platforms"
They are seeking to distribute titles, not make them. So Spielberg is just opening up a new market (One BILLION Indians) that has mediocre movie entertainment.
I think he's safe from this "oh my don't go outside our kingdom at any costs" mentality.

JBM;

This is rather good commentary but I think you totally missed the point of why the left is attacking Palin. They are not bothered by her because she did not abort, or because she loves her “imperfect” child or because her daughter got pregnant. They could care less about such things. They hate her because she represents the destruction of their stranglehold on American politics and public debate. They see her as the ultimate threat and they correctly see that they are in a battle for their very ideological existence. And since Palin’s appearance on the scene, they are rapidly losing that battle.

Having no concern about morals or ethics themselves, they are seeking only to win this battle, regardless of what it takes. So all the stories they’re bringing out about Sarah Palin have one and only one purpose: to destroy Sarah Palin. Truth does not matter. Justice does not matter. Compassion does not matter. All that matters is whether or not they can take her down, sweep her out of the spotlight and out of their way, never to be seen again.

The mainstream media and the Democratic party are in this together. Both are going for broke here, using the only tactics they know: trying to throw so much mud that enough of it will stick to take their enemy down. It matters not at all, whether the mud is factual or fictional. It’s all or nothing at this point and they know it. If they are successful, they hope that they can regain and retain their grip on the public viewpoint. If they fail, it may well mean the utter destruction of liberalism as they know it.

Failure in this task will very likely mean the implosion of the mainstream media, leaving them with zero credibility or influence, if not total elimination. I’ve heard talk radio hosts predicting this already.

So far, every attempt they’ve made has completely backfired on them, only generating backlash for them and compassion (and more votes) for Sarah Palin and the Republican ticket. They expected all the Christians would leave her behind in disgust due to her pregnant daughter. This is because they incorrectly surmised that we are as they are: cold, heartless and unforgiving. They were proven very wrong on this point and do not seem to understand why. They think they can mix slight truth in with their lies, and the people will lap it up like mindless drones. This was their method on the story of the “improper” firing because the guy refused to fire someone she didn’t like. Of course, they left out minor details like the fact that the fired man tazer’d a 10 year old boy and was caught with open beer in his patrol car. The left was wrong again, apparently unaware that we have other sources of information now.

So don’t make the mistake of thinking the attacks have anything to do with right or wrong, or what Gov Palin did or didn’t do “ it’s only about dirty politics” and it is failing miserably, as it should.

In the end, what I see here, is the left helping to usher in an era of “change” but not at all in the way they’d like. I see their methods failing so completely that future politicians will steer clear of these methods. And these current culprits will have no power and no part in the “new order of things”.

Did you have to insult the girls? Come on! What did I just tell you?

For those wondering about the Major's referral to "Barry", this is the name that Barack's father used as his new American name when he came to the U.S. Barack the senator, just like his father, was called Barry, at least until his college years. At that time he informed friends and family that he wanted to be called by his formal name, Barack. One cannot say this is the name on his birth certificate, as the rumor is that there is no formal record of Barack's birth. I mention this only because I find it interesting as to what is listed on a birth certificate versus the nicknames people later gather.

But you see JBM, that she should've killed the baby AND all the other children she had so that SHE could run for governor and Vice-President. You see she's A WOMAN. OH MY. And women aren't allowed to have a family, and bake chocolate chip cookies (ahem Ms. Clinton) AND have a job that is demanding. According to the DemoRats and liberals a woman can "only" handle a non-demanding job and raise a family. YUP they said it, not me. Even Oprah, the woman's advocate (scuse me while I vomit) doesn't like Palin.
Also, you fail to take into account that Palin's family is on the Republican side, so all bets are off. The media and the Libs can slander them as much as they want. But when it came to Ugly Amy Carter and worse Pizza face Chelsea, no one was allowed to say boo.
This is going to be great because Palin is a woman she can hammer them hard and all they can do is pussy-foot around the fact that she's a woman. We'll see how vicious they become. Of course we wouldn't be able to do that with Ms. Clinton of course, that would be inappropriate because she's a loser and Barry Hussein is the winner.
Besides, it'll be an easy waltz against the inexperienced Barry. But OH (I heard today) whats his face VP has lots of experience. Yeah, but he's the VP candidate and Barry is supposed to be the leader. Umm yeaaaahh. In a way I hope they win, but it will cost A LOT of American soldiers their lives. However, if you live in Chicago (Barry's home) and you're an unarmed citizen, more citizens lost their lives in a year than our soldiers in Iraq.

You see she’s A WOMAN. OH MY. And women aren’t allowed to have a family, and bake chocolate chip cookies (ahem Ms. Clinton) AND have a job that is demanding. According to the DemoRats and liberals a woman can “only” handle a non-demanding job and raise a family. YUP they said it, not me. Even Oprah, the woman’s advocate (scuse me while I vomit) doesn’t like Palin.
Also, you fail to take into account that Palin’s family is on the Republican side, so all bets are off. The media and the Libs can slander them as much as they want. But when it came to Ugly Amy Carter and worse Pizza face Chelsea, no one was allowed to say boo.
This is going to be great because Palin is a woman she can hammer them hard and all they can do is pussy-foot around the fact that she’s a woman. We’ll see how vicious they become. Of course we wouldn’t be able to do that with Ms. Clinton of course, that would be inappropriate because she’s a loser and Barry Hussein is the winner.
Besides, it’ll be an easy waltz against the inexperienced Barry. But OH (I heard today) whats his face VP has lots of experience. Yeah, but he’s the VP candidate and Barry is supposed to be the leader. Umm yeaaaahh. In a way I hope they win, but it will cost A LOT of American soldiers their lives. However, if you live in Chicago (Barry’s home) and you’re an unarmed citizen, more citizens lost their lives in a year than our soldiers in Iraq.
